This is very popular with tourists of all ages. It is 98 km from Colombo. There are hundreds of mid-ranged hotels and guest houses, pubs, restaurants and shopping places. There are many places here offering diving lessons, and a visit to its vast coral reef would be an unforgettable experience. Hikkaduwa lake too is famous for boat riding. Visitors who wish to get closer to the corals can do so, or there are boats with glass bottoms to go closer and view corals.

 YALA NATIONAL PARK

Is famous for its Elephant   Popu-lation  , seen in small and large herds. spotted deer, sambhur, Barking deer , Monkey,  Wild Buffalo, wild Boer, sloth bear and innumerable varieties of birds, endemic and migratory. Peacock is the most famous of the birds at yala. The mating dance of the male with its colourful plumes fully spread is a photographer’s delight.

Morning leave for Tissamaharama gateway to yala National park. Afternoon tour of the park. Overnight Tissamaharama/ Yala.

 RATNAPURA 

Ratnapura is the most famous gem – min -ing locality in sri Lanka. At the National Museum, Gemmological Museum , the Ratnapura Gemmological Museum the Ratnapura GemBureau and Museum or in many other gem workshops in Ratnapura, one can get the rate opportunity to see variety of precious stones such as rubies , sapphires, cat’s eyes alexandrites, aquamarines tourmalines , spinels  topaz ,gernets , amethyst, zircons etc. and also the traditional ways of cutting and polishing gem stones.
